County Council District 1 candidate Jackson touts qualifications for office

web posted June 3, 2008

Dear Editor,

As a candidate for the District 1 seat on Edgefield County Council, my experience of 20 years on Edgefield Town Council, as an educator, and businessman make me the best qualified candidate.

There are several issues that I feel need to be addressed in order for changes to occur in our county government.

I believe in open government and that the voters should be knowledgeable about the issues that come before the County Council. I encourage the citizens to attend the Council meetings and actively participate in order to bring to the floor the issues that concern them. Any decisions that are made should be well documents as to why they were made and how they will impact the County. Government employees should be qualified and licensed for the positions they hold. There should be unity in the different departments and a cooperative atmosphere.

Should you feel strongly about the above issues, please vote for Bill Jackson in the June 10th primary.
