Family Seeks Prayers and Donations for Cancer Patient

web posted June 4, 2012

Dear Editor,
One of Edgefield’s most known and loved residents is in need of our community support and prayers. Samuel Merriweather, “Sam”, as he is known, has been a well-respected “cook” throughout Edgefield County for over 20 years.  He is the father of six beautiful children and now a new grandfather.

A few months ago Sam was diagnosed with liver cancer and is still battling this disease. His most recent surgery has left him unable to work. Unfortunately, family obligations don’t stop when we are stricken with life-threatening disease. But it’s comforting to know that there are so many people in this community that know Sam, know his wife and children (ages 7-18), and know what a close family they are. This community is so generous to them during the holidays and we are asking for your generosity once more.

A Benefit Account has been established to help Sam and his family through these rough times. We are asking that donations be made to the account listed below. No donation will be considered too small and is greatly appreciated. Most of all, please pray for our brother. Thank you all and God bless.

To donate please deposit to:
