Writer Encourages Readers to Vote for Rick Hubbard

By: Steven A. Smith

web posted June 27, 2016
OPINION –  The following articles, images, and links, are provided by a reader, who would like to voice his opinion, and encourage you to vote for Rick Hubbard for Solicitor.  The reader has compiled several items to show readers why he believes Candice Lively, Hubbard's opponent is a bad fit, and why Hubbard deserves the job.

The following is a release showing the support that Rick Hubbard has.

Top Conservative SC Senators Line Up Behind Rick Hubbard for Solicitor
Rick Hubbard Continues to Pick Up More Support for June 28th Runoff

(Lexington, SC) Today, 2 top Republican elected officials from the midlands announced their endorsement of Rick Hubbard’s campaign to become the next solicitor for the 11th circuit. Among those announcing their public support was the South Carolina Senate Majority Leader Shane Massey and popular conservative State Senator Katrina Shealy. These 2 important political endorsements come only one day after 3rd place solicitor candidate Larry Wedekind announced his support for Rick Hubbard as well.

Senate Majority Leader Shane Massey from Edgefield said, “Rick Hubbard understands how important it is to have a good working relationship between law enforcement and the Solicitor’s office and that’s why so many members of law enforcement have already endorsed his campaign. I have known Rick for more than 15 years. I have seen him in action. He is a tough prosecutor, and he is a strong leader. And I have absolute confidence in his character and integrity. I am voting for Rick Hubbard for Solicitor on June 28, and I encourage everyone in Lexington, Saluda, Edgefield, and McCormick to join me. I know Rick will be a great Solicitor for our circuit.”

Hubbard received 49.8% (13,969 votes) of the primary vote and came within only 45 votes of not needing a runoff. Rick Hubbard has over 22 years experience prosecuting some of the toughest cases in this state. He was also recognized as the state’s top prosecutor by his peers and has previously been endorsed by all four Sheriff’s in the circuit including Jay Koon from Lexington, Adell Dobey from Edgefield, George Reid from McCormick and John Perry from Saluda.

Senator Katrina Shealy from Lexington added, “Rick has run a positive campaign based on his record of achievement and his plans for the future. I’ll be voting for Rick Hubbard on the 28th because I know he will make a fine Solicitor. Rick will not play favorites and he will hold no one above the law. I am also confident he will provide fresh leadership in the Solicitor’s office.”

Hubbard said, “Shane and Katrina symbolize a new wave of leadership in South Carolina. Voters in this circuit want their elected leaders to share their values and that is why I have not nor will I ever run a negative campaign. No one wants the next Solicitor to be covered in mud from running a dirty campaign.”
