Writer Says Flag is Just the Beginning of Attack on Freedoms

web posted July 10, 2015
Dear Editor,
So this is indeed a historic day.  Not really.  The Republican Party has become well known to cave in to the media and whatever popular idea comes along.  All that had to happen was one piece of human debris use the flag in a video and everyone was ready to jump on board the “let’s see how wonderful I look on TV” train. After all the Republicans are well known as going back on their word, turning on others in their party, and generally as bunch of cowards.
So what’s next, the destruction of all Confederate monuments, the destruction of all Confederate headstones, the removal of all Confederate items in all museums?  This is the Republicans big chance to show just how liberal they can be.

Why would anyone trust a Republicans word for anything?  What’s next, the removal of all items of this Nations past, good or bad?  After all, the British find all relics from the Revolutionary war offensive. And many other nations that we support find the American flag offensive. So shouldn’t we stop flying it as well?

Are the Republicans willing to go along the removal of all Christian symbols, the removal of all Jewish symbols? Our Constitutional right to freedom of religion is after all a big target. You don’t think that won’t be the next area of attack? Or is it the next area of attack?  I believe the attack has already come.

At first it will start as “these symbols shouldn’t be shown in the media, then it will be these symbols shouldn’t be sold, then it will be these symbols should not be displayed at all. After all the right to pray in school and at school functions has been removed. The right to display any Religious symbols on clothing or jewelry at schools has already been taken away.

Why do you think a Church was attacked? If this was just a Hate crime don’t you believe there were plenty of other places that an attack would have been more effective? A church was attacked because it was an attack of our right to freedom of religion. Our right to worship without fear of retribution.
This whole mess was a trap to divide this state and in a way it worked. All peoples joined in the support of the Church in Charleston and should have. But that’s not where it stopped is it? The Confederate flag was then used as the sacrificial lamb in this tragedy.

Had the piece of garbage that committed this horrible act been holding an American flag would everyone have called for the removal of it as well?

If the Republicans wanted the Flag removed why wasn’t it removed completely when it was decided to move it to the Confederate Monument?  Basically an election was coming up.
