County Council member voices support for food drive

web posted July 28, 2009
Dear Editor,
This letter is written to voice my support of the Edgefield County Employee Local Food Drive that began last week and will run through the end of July. I am pleased that our county employees have undertaken this food drive in order to help those in need in our county in addition to serving the citizens of our county on a daily basis. It speaks to the quality, integrity, and compassion of our employees.

Unfortunately times are tough for many in our County, which is why, for those who can, it is a great opportunity to help others in need. Your help and contributions will make a difference during these challenging economic times to many in our County who may be struggling to make ends meet.

Winston Churchill once said, "We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give."  Thank you to the Edgefield County employees for giving their best and I offer encouragement and support for this noble effort and hope others will do the same.

Sincerely,
Genia Blackwell
Edgefield County Council
District #5
