Our Trip to Edgefield

to edgefieldGUEST COLUMN –  Last weekend, 20 members of the Photography Club of Sun City, Bluffton, SC, visited Edgefield.

We came to see the Rodeo on Friday night. It was a first for many of us and we got some outstanding photos. It was a nostalgic evening, bringing back childhood memories of our own local fairs and carnivals.

We stayed at the Edgefield Inn and had lunch at the the Old Edgefield Grille (a photo op in itself). A walk around the Courthouse Square presented us with more photo ops  at the Potter’s Place, the Distillery, the Park Row Market, the General Store, Delectable Delights and others. We photographed the Square and some beautiful churches and homes up and down the side streets. What struck us most though, were the people we met and how they were so welcoming and willing to share the area history.

We had such a good time in Edgefield, that we’re written up a tour guide and a photo gallery to encourage other Sun City folks to visit. It is called, “The Edgefield Area and the Folks We Met”.  Hopefully, we can come back and visit the spots that we missed. Thank you Edgefield for a great trip.
