Edgefield Mayor touts coming events
web
posted September 19, 2007
Dear Editor,
The hot summer days are all but gone and we are entering the fall
season here in Edgefield. With the cooler temperatures comes a lot of
excitement in the community. The town in conjunction with the Edgefield
Community Development Association, the SC Heritage Corridor, the
Chamber of Commerce and many dedicated citizens are gearing up to make
the upcoming months full of events and excitement.
The upcoming events will be advertised in local papers, on the Johnston
radio station, Channel 12 commercials, and the community cable channel
16.
Our first event will be this Thursday, September 20, 2007, from 5:00
p.m. until 8:00 p.m. The Downtown Shop Around is sponsored by Edgefield
Community Development Association and they are looking forward to
having you shop around town during the special hours they have set
aside. There will be artists featured in a number of businesses, as
well as a band playing on the square. Complete a shopping passport and
enter a drawing for an “over the top gift basket”!
Mark you calendar for the 6th Annual Heritage Jubilee. The Jubilee will
be October 5th & 6th 2007 at Oakley Park. There will be great BBQ,
entertainment, crafts and more. Bring the children; there will be
activities for them too! If you need any information about the jubilee
call Joel Jolly at 637-1900.
The holidays are just around the corner! As time approaches watch for
the many special holiday activities around town. The Christmas Parade
has been slated for Saturday, December 1, 2007. For questions please
contact Ms. Sharon Nunamaker at 637-3400.
Thank you for your continued support. Together we can move Edgefield
forward and continue to keep it a wonderful place to live. Please
continue to enjoy YOUR town and, as always, remember to “SHOP EDGEFIELD
FIRST”.
W Ken Durham
Mayor
