Letter to the Editor

School Board Candidate States Qualifications for Office

web posted September 29, 2010

Dear Editor,
One of the greatest passions of my life has been the children of Edgefield County and their education. Even though I have retired from the direct service of working with our educational system, I still have a tremendous desire to continue being a part of it. That fact is one reason I decided to run for a seat on the School Board, District 2.

Education is a life-long process and I still grow daily in my knowledge of children and what they need to be successful. I have been in the classroom as a teacher, a school-level administrator as an assistant principal and then as principal and ended my career at the district level working with a federal literacy grant.

I have a strong working knowledge of what each group’s responsibility is to our children. I know the support each group needs and what they need to provide.

Children come first - in every decision. Teachers are right behind the children in decision-making. The teachers are on the front lines daily with our children. School staff, district staff/administration and the school board are here to provide the leadership and direction so this child/teacher relationship can fully work.

I am committed to being a responsible board member always remembering children first in every decision and being wise in all decisions in which I cast a vote. I will take seriously my commitment to make sound fiscal decisions.
I ask for your vote to serve District 2…for our children.

If you have questions, please feel free to call me at 275-4028. Thank you.

Bridget Clark
School Board Candidate for District 2
