Mount Vintage resident wants county council member out of office
web posted October 7, 2006
Letter to the Editor
I have been a resident of Edgefield County for 20 years. 3 1/2 years ago we moved from our house of 16 years to Mount Vintage. The tax assessment arrived by mail on Saturday and we have been shoched ever since. Of course, our tax bill in our old house would have been unreasonable also. The fact is, Mount Vintage isn't to blame for the overassessment or the unreasonable millage increase. Our county council is directly responsible for pushing this tax increase through for all of the residents of Edgefield County.
Last month one bad penny left the county in the form of Wayne Adams. It is time for us to take control of our county and remove the current county council members from office. I sat at the council meeting on Tuesday and memorized the names and faces of our county government. The representative in my area is Mr. Everett Kitchens. Let's give Mr. Kitchens the message that this sneaky tax proposal is unacceptable by everyone he is supposed to represent. First, let's get him to repeal this proposal. Then, let's vote him out of office!
