Letter to the Editor

web posted October 12, 2005

Dear Editor,

I just wanted to comment on how much I enjoy this site as it is and not so much what it seems about to become.  I really like reading all the news and assorted stories. I just hope it doesn't turn into a rant and rave, mudslinging fishwrapper.

What I'm referring to is all the criticism of the sports program and the administration at Strom Thurmond. First of all, as to the complaints about one of the players on this years football team, if I'm not mistaken, I believe everyone in todays society is innocent until proven guilty and I don't believe this player has had his day in court just yet.

As for Tony Edwards comments, everyone associated with the program, past and present, knows that Mr. Edwards has been bitter ever since the coaching staff decided not to retain his services. Not many teams have much use for a 40 year old manager/waterboy. Please Mr. Edwards, Grow up and get on with your life. Also, referring to Mr. Edwards as a school board hopeful is like referring to Saddam Hussein as a U.S. presidential hopeful.

Greg Barfield

Editor's note: Mr. Kevin Jones entered guilty pleas on the felony charges as part of a plea agreement.
