Local Relay for Life tops $70,000 in donations: 2011 Kick-Off next week

web posted October 12, 2010
Below: Sharen Fay holds a placard of the record
Dear Editor,
August 31st marked the end of another GREAT Relay year. We truly exceeded our goal and soared to $70,045. We had 22 awesome Relay Teams and many, many County Corporate sponsors, including over $12,000 from Bi-Lo of Edgefield. We also have a huge group of committee members that work very hard to make our Relay’s possible.

It was a pleasure to serve as your chair in 2010 and I am truly thankful for everyone who made our Relay so successful. Our theme in 2010 was “Celebrate more Birthdays, less Cancer” and every birthday celebrated by one of our Survivor’s makes it all worth it.
I proudly hand the chair torch back to Lynn Rearden for the year 2011.  Our theme for 2011 is “Fairytales, dreams CAN come true with a cure”. The 2011 Relay kick-off will be October 21, 2010, 6:30pm in the Strom Thurmond High School Cafeteria. There will be food, fun, and entertainment from the cast of “Beauty and The Beast”. All survivors, Team Captains, or anyone who is interested in having a Relay team this year are invited to come.
Lynn attended “Lobby Day” in Washington, DC in September as part of her role as SC State Lead Ambassador for the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network.

Thank you all for all your support
Sharen Fay
