Edgefield resident disputes quote by Augusta Chronicle report on
murder - suicide
web
posted November 5, 2007
Dear Editor,
After reading your latest article on
the tragic murders/ suicide, I
must respond. I never said "911 asked me to go into the home". What the
dispatch said, as I recall, and a friend confirmed after watching the
news cast again on Comcast, could I go back and confirm there was three
people in the house, and call her back. Dispatch never said for me to
enter the house.
I went over to the house and after asking the woman,
the grandmother that found the bodies, to please sit on the steps
because she was so distraught, I asked her if she saw three people in
the house, and then called 911 again as asked. That is the only way I
would have tried to confirm the number of victims.
In my own defense, let me say that at the time of the incident, I
had just returned home after having worked two jobs and had not slept
in over 24 hrs. I could have made a mistake, but would never
intentionally make "false" statements to the press or anyone else.
I
saw the wonderful job our law enfocement did and appreciate, and
respect them greatly. It was a trying situation for all involved, but I
really only wanted to help the grandmother. She had experienced seeing
loved ones in a way nobody should. My heart goes out to all the members
of the family.

Editor's note: The
quote in question appeared in the Augusta Chroncile's
coverage, not that of EdgefieldDaily.com. Mr. Wise is the person that
made the 911 call reporting the murders.
