Edgefield warns: Speeders Beware
web
posted November 5, 2008
The following message does not apply to
everyone who drives through Edgefield so if you are one who
consistently tries to obey the posted speed limit signs, please
disregard the following message.
I have had many complaints and have personally witnessed drivers
dangerously disregarding posted speed limit signs throughout the town,
especially on secondary streets. These limits are there to
protect not only the driver but also the families living in the
neighborhoods.
Our police chief has been instructed to do whatever it takes to reverse
this trend. In addition to increasing daily patrols we are going
to designate one or two days a month where we bring in as many officers
as possible to focus only on speeding in all parts of the town.
The intention is not to create “speed traps” but to try and make more
drivers aware of their driving habits and keep our streets and
neighborhoods safe.
Thank you for helping me to make Edgefield the best place in America to
live!
W. Ken Durham
Mayor
Edgefield, SC
