Letter to the Editor

Writer takes issue with "Spread the Wealth Around" column

web posted November 11, 2008
Dear Editor,
This is in response to the Editor's column in last week's edition concerning "Obama's Spread the Wealth" policies. Reading the article, my initial contention was - this is someone's opinion of a joke. After reading the complete article, I'm convinced this individual is nothing more than a sore loser. I guess spreading the wealth only applies when tax breaks go to the middle class and poor people. When it goes to the rich - we don't hear about it because its done in the dead of night.

I suppose in his "America" only those who hold a certain socio-economic status should be allowed to vote. The problem is America belongs to all of us. Yes, even those out of work. Barack Obama's campaign appealed to a large part of America who believe in an America where our strength lies in our diversity. That the sum is greater than the individual parts of the equation. I have never written in to a newpaper before, but I could not allow this distortion (being generous)  to go unchecked. This type of thinking is gobbleegook to those without vision or intellect.  I say its about time!  And, Yes We Did!

P.S.  I served my country for over 20 years. How about you?

Editor's note: The across the board tax cuts were voted on by Congress and approved by President Bush during regular sessions of Congress.
