Open Letter from Edgefield Mayor Ken Durham
web
posted November 19, 2007
Dear Edgefield Citizens:
Our town is decorated beautifully again this year and we have a full
agenda of upcoming activities scheduled for the holiday season.
You can find a complete list of these
activities (here or) by reading your local
newspapers, viewing channel 16 on the local cable network, watching our
commercial on channel 12, or by calling the Chamber of Commerce or
Edgefield Town Hall.
I want to thank the Edgefield Community Development Association, The
Discovery Center, The Edgefield Regional Arts Council and the many town
employees and volunteers who have given their time and talents to make
our downtown area so attractive.
In our effort to make the entire town a showplace where residents and
visitors can enjoy good old fashion Christmas spirit, we are sponsoring
the second annual “Mayor’s Home Decoration Contest”. I am
encouraging as many residents as possible to decorate the exterior of
their homes again this year. You will need to contact Town Hall
(637-4014) to register your home. You may also enter your friends
and neighbors. Entries will be judged December 13th between 5:30
PM and 7:00 PM and the winner announced in front of Town Hall at 7:00
PM. The winner will receive a special edition piece of Christmas
pottery made in Edgefield, just for this event. A special thanks
to Ed Redman for his effort in designing and making the Christmas piece.
It continues to be a pleasure to be your mayor and experience first
hand, the spirit and enthusiasm happening in Edgefield. In all
the excitement of the holidays, let’s not forget the real reason we
celebrate. Take a moment and reflect on the true meaning of the
season and be thankful for our way of life!
As always, thank you for your continued support and for “Shopping
Edgefield First”.
W. Ken Durham
Mayor
Edgefield, SC
