Remember on Memorial Day

Edgefielddaily.com
web posted May 30, 2005

”Greater love hath no man than he give his life for another,” the Bible tells us and today being Memorial Day it is so befitting those who have given their life so that we may enjoy the freedom we take for granted.

Freedom is not free. It comes with a price tag most freedom loving people are not willing to pay, life and limb. It is for that reason we, as a people and a nation, owe so much to the men and women who served and are now serving in our Armed Forces.

Selfless service to God, country, and family are qualities that have made the United States of America what she is today. These brave men and women deserve far more than they are given in return for their service and more often than not the mainstream media revels in distorting the honor, distinction, bravery, and sacrifice of those who serve.

God grants a select few such bravery as to lay down their life for their fellow man.

Edgefield Daily.com honors those who have served and those who still serve in defending the Constitution of our Republic. We honor those who have fallen, giving the ultimate sacrifice, so that we may remain free as a United States. We honor not just their memory but their families who also gave so much in service to this great nation.

As Memorial Day is observed today many will seek out recreational activates and bar-b-que’s and revels in a day off forgetting the purpose of this solemn day. We take time out of this day to grieve with the families of those who paid the ultimate price for freedom. We hold their sense of duty and honor in reverence.

To each of you who served we thank you and admire you for your selfless acts of courage, honor, dignity, and duty. May God bless each of you and may He bless the families of those who serve as well. Our Republic owes a debt it can never repay to each individual veteran.
