Vandals Cause $20,000 in Damages to Truck

web posted January 11, 2013

MERRIWETHER – A Woodlawn Road man called the Sheriff's Office after finding his Ford F350 truck nearly destroyed by vandals overnight. According to the owner, he was on his way home when one of the tires blew out, causing him to park in on a pull-off near Thurmond Road. He intended to return the following morning to fix the tire and found the truck heavily damaged, estimating the damage at $20,000.

According to an incident report, when the owner returned around 7 am he found every window busted out, all the mirrors broken, headlights, taillights, broke out as well. There were dents and scratches on all four doors, all of the "oversized" tires flattened and the exhaust pipe bent and broken.

The truck had to be towed from the scene after it was photographed for evidence. No suspects or possible suspects were listed on the report.

The case has been turned over to the Sheriff's Criminal Investigative Division for further investigation.
