Grand
theft reported at Fox Creek Junction break-in
web posted January 14, 2006 MERRIWETHER – A Merriwether businessman had his car burglarized early Thursday morning as it sat in the front of his business. The owner of Fox Creek Junction, located on the 1200 block of West Martintown Road at the county line, called 911to report the break-in after a customer entered the business and told the owner a window was broken out of his car. The owner also lives at the location and did not realize the theft had taken place. Deputy Curtis Burton arrived a short time later and observed the 1995 Dodge with broken glass around the car. The storeowner said video surveillance tapes showed a car entering the property around 3:50 am on Thursday morning. Deputy Burton processed the car for evidence and found blood inside the car and a sample was taken in as evidence. Missing from the car were the Pioneer AM/FM/CD stereo, a Toshiba Laptop computer, two security cameras, and $25 dollars in cash and coins. The total dollar amount of the equipment was estimated to be around $1,670, no estimate was provided for the damage to the car. Additional evidence was collected by Deputy Burton and passed along to investigators who have taken over the case. The person or persons responsible could face felony charges of grand theft. For
