 Fire destroys Murphy Village home web posted January 30, 2008  MERRIWETHER – A wind
driven fire gutted a
Murphy Village home Tuesday night around 8 pm that brought both
Merriwether and
County Line Departments to the scene. When the first units arrived the
home was fully engulfed in flames and a brush fire that was touched off
began creeping to nearby homes.The home, located at 7 Royal Place, was uninhabited and had no electricity hooked up at the time of the fire. Firefighters were able to bring the fire under control in about half an hour and made entry through the front of the home. Once the flames were out it was obvious the entire interior of the home was damaged.  The cause of the
fire is unknown at this time.Firefighters were still on the scene at 9:45 pm soaking the smoldering remains. Most of the structure was still intact though some walls were completely destroyed. ©
