Edwards Drive Home Found Burglarized

web posted January 30, 2014

MERRIWETHER An Edwards Drive man called the Edgefield County Sheriff's Office after arriving home and finding the front door to the home "kicked in" and the back door left open. The man informed dispatchers he had already been in the home and items were missing. After a deputy and investigator arrived, footprints were found leading away from the crime scene.

According to an incident report, the person or persons entered the home and stole a Winchester 30-06 with a black synthetic stoke and scope, a camouflage zipper gun case, a Kicker Solo Borak 12" speaker and a 32-inch Sanyo flat screen TV.

The items were valued at over $1,000.

After processing the scene for evidence, the footprints were followed to Dusty Lane and then to a home on the 300 block of Ridge Road. They spoke with the owner who stated he heard someone on the road earlier but did not see anyone.

The victim did not have serial numbers for the stolen items at the time the report was filed. The case has been turned over to the Criminal Investigative Division for further investigation.
