Home under Construction Vandalized

web posted January 31, 2013

MERRIWETHER – A contractor arrived at a home under construction on Bella Vista Road, near Murrah Road, and discovered the home had been vandalized with thousands of dollars worth of damage caused inside and out side of the home. The contractor said he was last at the home on Friday morning and returned around 9:50 am Tuesday to discover the damage.

According to an incident report, the vandals kicked holes in the sheetrock in the garage and also in the walls of the foyer. A Port-O-Potty had been tipped over and rolled a number of times, the construction sign was torn down, there was damage to the yard and black tire marks all over the newly paved driveway.

In all the damage was estimated at $4,395.

The contractor said he has seen juveniles riding motorcycles on the power line behind the property and go to a nearby home. The deputy spoke with a woman at the home and said she did not think the children were responsible, an incident report states.

The children were not present to be spoken to by the deputy, the report states.

The case remains under investigation.
