Fox Creek falls victim to vandalism

MERRIWETHER – Fox Creek Charter High School in Merriwether was the scene of vandalism over the weekend leaving an estimated $1,500 in damages behind. According to police reports a teacher left the school around 1am Saturday morning and saw no evidence of the vandalism.

Around 9”30 Saturday morning the damage was reported to the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office. The main building was not damaged however the portable building were a target with ceiling tiles being removed. A picnic table was overturned along with the steps to five of the portable classrooms causing damage to two of the sets of steps.

Tires were found in the roadway along with a chair, a barbeque grill, and a roll cart. The greenhouse was overturned and damaged as well. Reports indicate that the gate was closed at the time of the discovery and that the gate remains open most of the time.

The case has been turned over to investigators for follow-up.
