Naked Man Who Abandoned Baby on Busy Roadway Has Criminal
Past
web posted February 11, 2013
MERRIWETHER – Carl Thompson Grove, 31, who
abandoned his naked baby daughter on the side of busy Martintown Road
last Wednesday evening, while himself walking around naked, may be
facing additional time in jail. According to online court records,
Grove was arrested in July of 2009 on Briggs Road for multiple felony
drug charges and pled guilty to manufacturing and distribution of a
cocaine based drug and sentenced to 15 years in prison, suspended on
service of 5 years of probation in 2011.
Needless to say, the incident last week is well within the 5 year
probationary period and, if the law is followed, Groves should be
facing the remainder of the original 15 year sentence in addition to
the charges he currently faces.
As Edgefield
Daily
originally reported at that time, Edgefield County
Sheriff's Undercover Narcotics Investigators made a stop and arrest on
Grove on Briggs Road on July 16, 2009.
"At the time of arrest Grove is said to have told investigators the
things they were looking for would be found in the 'back seat'. A drug
dog was called to the scene and alerted to the back seat area where a
dark colored bag was found containing hypodermic needles, a crystal
substance believed to be methamphetamine, suspected marijuana, assorted
pills, and two bottles of what is believed to be anabolic steroids,"
Edgefield Daily reported.
He was sentenced by Circuit Court Judge Edward B. Cottingham on July
11, 2011: Case number: 2009GS1900388.
Grove has not been taken into custody for the incident last week and is
believed to still hospitalized, though that has not been confirmed.
Warrants were said to be in the process of being obtained on Thursday
with additional charges possible.
It is unknown when Grove will return to Edgefield County to face the
current charges.
