 Merriwether restaurant burglarized Saturday web posted February 19, 2008 MERRIWETHER – Vinney’s Pizzeria, on the 1300 block of Martintown Road was the scene of a burglary early Saturday morning that left more damage done than the person or persons got away with. Edgefield County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to an alarm at the business just after 5 am and arrived to find an open door on the eastside of the building and been pried open. After additional officers arrived on the scene the building was searched and no one was found inside. An investigator was summoned to the restaurant to process the crime scene for evidence. The cash register had been pried open and assorted change was lying around the area on the floor. There were no bills in the resister according to Chief Investigator Randy Doran. A door to the office had also been kicked in and the office appeared to have been rummaged through. Video surveillance tapes were recovered and investigators are still processing the evidence. The case is currently under investigation and no other information was made available. ©
