Merriwether Fire Department Seeks Volunteers for Community Clean-Up Day

web posted March 13, 2013

MERRIWETHER – The Merriwether Fire Department is seeking volunteers to help firefighters pick up trash on main roads in the Merriwether community on Saturday, March 30, starting at 8 am and the Fire Department will be providing a free lunch for participants. Last year the teams cleared trash from along Mealing and Murrah Roads and hope to expand to more roads this year with more volunteers.

Sweetwater Baptist Church has donated the use of their bus to transport volunteers to their locations and Tri-County Waste is donating the use of a dumpster that will be located at Merriwether Fire Station 3 on Murrah Road, which will also serve as the staging area. The Edgefield County Sheriff's Office is donating the trash bags.

Volunteers are advised to wear work clothing and gloves.

To volunteer call the Merriwether Fire Department Headquarters at 803-279-8001 or email merriwether670@merriwetherfire.net
