Mt. Vintage Home Found Burglarized

web posted March 15, 2014

MERRIWETHER A Longstreet Place man reported his some coming home Thursday afternoon and finding the family home burglarized. The person or persons gained access to the home through the front door during broad daylight.

The homeowner told a responding deputy that he left the home around 9 am for work and everything was in order. His son returned to the home around 3 pm after school and noticed some items missing and called his father, who returned home and called the Edgefield County Sheriff's Office.

An investigator was called to process the scene for evidence.

According to the homeowner a 47" Vizio flat screen TV, a Gateway laptop computer and an estimated $3,300 in assorted jewelry, including a class ring, were stolen. No serial numbers were available at the tie of the report. The man had no idea who could have broken into the home, but noted his son did have friends over from time to time.

The case has been turned over to the Sheriff's Criminal Investigative Division for further investigation.
