  Merriwether Middle School Band Students Attend All-State Band Auditions and Clinic web posted March 19, 2007  MERRIWETHER – Will
Hoffmann and Haley Willis, students at Merriwether
Middle School, attended the Region 2 All-State Band auditions and
clinics held at Lander University recently. The event is sponsored by
the South Carolina Band Director’s Association.Will, a trumpet musician, participated in the Concert Band Division and Haley, an oboe musician participated in the Symphonic Band Division. Both students scored well enough to make the Region Band. Haley placed high enough to be able to audition for All-State. The local students worked for one and half days with a guest clinician to prepare a concert which was given on Saturday of the clinic for their parents and the public. “The experience is a very valuable one because the students are immersed into the world of music-making for that time with others who are as dedicated and hard-working as they are,” said Dave Hill, Merriwether Middle School Band Instructor and concluded, “We are very proud of Will and Haley’s accomplishments and since they are both only 7th graders, we anticipate even better things for them in the next year.” For
