North Augusta Teen Charged for Mud-bogging

web posted March 20, 2014

MERRIWETHER An Edgefield County Sheriff's Deputy was called to the intersection of Thurmond and Scupin Roads due to a report of teens mud-bogging on Scupin Road and a a white pickup being stuck near the intersection. When the deputy arrived ha found a 16-year-old North Augusta teen stuck in the mud about 100 yards from Thurmond Road.

The deputy noted that the teen, as well as others, had been driving back and forth on Scupin Road from Woodlawn and Thurmond Road and fishtailing and tearing up the dirt road. The road is notorious for teens and other trucks tearing up the road following rains.

After talking to the teen the deputy issued a ticket for malicious injury to real property (the county road). At the entrance of the road is a sign stating those caught mud-bogging on the road would be fined.

No court date was provided.
