Auto theft reported from Merriwether subdivision

web posted April 5, 2007

MERRIWETHER – A Merriwether man notified the Sheriff’s Office Tuesday afternoon that a “mint condition” blue 1986 Chevrolet Silverado truck had been stolen from a home in the Birch Point subdivision. The truck went missing between the hours of 3 am Tuesday and 6 pm that evening. A Sheriff’s Investigator arrived at the home a short time later.

The investigator found small pieces of plastic that resemble the material around the ignition of the steering column lying where the truck was last parked. The scene was processed and the truck was listed on the national crime registry (NCIC) as stolen.

The truck is described as a blue Chevy Silverado with tinted window, chrome rails, a duel “Flowmaster” exhaust system, grey “skirts” along the sides, and “Hoozer” tires. The value of the truck was listed at $7,800 and bares a Georgia license plate 830-JXL.

If you have information or have seen this vehicle contact the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office at 803-278-1625 or 803-637-5337.
