Merriwether distributorship targeted in weekend burglary

web posted May 18, 2009
MERRIWETHER – A Merriwether business was the target of the most recent burglary when workers discovered a window to the office of the Coburg distribution office on Restmaster Lane was broken out Sunday morning. After a deputy arrived and observed the scene investigators were called to process for evidence in the obvious burglary.

According to investigators, three computers and a laptop were stolen from the offices and a drink machine was also broken into with the perpetrators making off with the cash and coins inside. Management members arrived and began taking an inventory and additional items are usually found missing after the cleanup begins.

An actual dollar amount for the goods stolen was not available Sunday; however, it was estimated to be at least $5,000 and could go as high as $10,000. Investigators were able to obtain undisclosed evince at the scene to aid in their investigation. The burglary took place sometime Saturday night after the rains ended and early Sunday morning.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office at 803-278-1625 or 803-637-5337. You may remain anonymous and still provide information.
