  Merriwether teen injured in single car crash Thursday web posted May 21, 2010  MERRIWETHER – A
Merriwether teen was
injured in a single vehicle crash on the 500 block on Currytown Road
Thursday afternoon. The Strom Thurmond High School Sophomore was
traveling west on Currytown Road entering an infamous curve when she
lost control of the Ford Freestyle minivan and went off the right hand
side of the road going down and embankment and striking a tree. It is unknown why the teen lost control of the minivan prior to entering the curve just west of Mealing Road. She was able to be helped from the vehicle by passing motorists and was immobilized after EMS and Merriwether Firefighters arrived on the scene.  She was transported
to MCG by ambulance for treatment on non-life
threatening injures. The 3:40 pm crash snarled traffic at the location for well over two hours. Traffic on Currytown Road was reduced to one lane until the scene could be cleared shortly before 6 pm. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. © Copyright 2010
