Merriwether Man Remains on Life Support, Questions Remain Unanswered

web posted May 27, 2014

MERRIWETHER Friday will mark two months since Gregory Wallace was found bloodied and unresponsive on the floor of his Currytown Road home on Sunday morning March 30. Last Friday was his birthday with family and friends continuing their prayers for Wallace to awaken from his coma, according to friends on Facebook. Nothing more has changed in his condition or in the investigation of what happened early that morning.

Mr. Wallace, who was partially paralyzed due to a crash, was found by a friend coming to give him a ride to church as she did every Sunday. When he did not answer the door she tried the doorknob and found the door unlocked. She entered, found his wallet at the door and then after seeing a blood trail found him face down in a puddle of blood and called 911.

EMS and Edgefield County Sheriff's Deputies arrived minutes later and Wallace was rushed to the trauma center where he underwent surgery for a severe head injury and another to his chin. He has remained on life support ever since.

Investigators have talked to everyone that had any contact with Wallace prior to the incident or is suspected to have had contact and the case remains under investigation. The one person who could give investigators the break they need in the case is Mr. Wallace.

According to information released in the case so far, nothing was ever reported missing from the home. Why the front door was unlocked and his wallet was laying just inside on the floor is unknown. However, there was no forced entry into the home.
