Two Neighbors Hit by Same Thief?

web posted June 4, 2014

MERRIWETHER Edgefield County Sheriff's Deputies were called to the 100 block of Eagle Road Sunday afternoon after a woman woke up and noticed a truck missing from the driveway. On Monday deputies and investigators were back on Eagle Road, but this time due to a burglary at the next door neighbor's house that occurred about the same time.

The truck, a burgundy 2001 Ford F150 extended cab with a gray stripe at the bottom, also had the words Brown's Brother Roofing still visible on the doors where the letters had been removed prior. It did run but had no tag. The keys had been left in the ignition, according to an incident report.

On Monday deputies and investigators were called to the neighbor's house where the back door had been kicked in and several guns were stolen from inside the home and a safe containing $5,000 in coins.

The guns were listed as a single shot 12 gauge Winchester shotgun, a 20 gauge Winchester single shot shotgun, a .44 caliber Smith and Wesson stainless steel pistol and a 410 gauge single shot Smith and Wesson shotgun. At least seven knives were also taken.

The owner did not have any serial numbers for the investigators at the time of the report. The total value of property stolen was listed at $6,253.

There was evidence that the property from one home was taken in the direction of the other.
