Breast Cancer Prevention Coalition meets to expand knowledge of disease web posted June 23, 2009 MERRIWETHER – The Breast Cancer Prevention Coalition met at the Mount Vintage Plantation Grille on Wednesday, June 17, for a luncheon meeting. The group’s leader, Nita Zachow, introduced Jane Faircloth who was the keynote speaker. Ms. Faircloth, who has been in the medical field for 40 years, told the inspirational story of her battle with melanoma and how it changed her life. The BCPC is a non-profit organization that supports breast cancer patients by pairing them with an individual mentor who can lend a helping hand during stressful times. The organization also raises funds that will go to the Medical College of Georgia’s cancer research efforts. This is an all volunteer group that will be giving its time and talent toward wiping out this insidious disease.
