Two injured in late night crash
web
posted June 26, 2009
MERRIWETHER – A two car collision on
Sweetwater Road at Murrah Road Extension snarled traffic for over half
an hour Thursday night when the driver of a Ford Focus station wagon
attempted to make a left turn from the northbound lane of Sweetwater
Road onto Murrah Road Extension when the driver of a Ford Explorer
slammed into the rear of her car.
The 911 call of the crash came in to dispatchers shortly before 11 pm
sending EMS, Merriwether First Responders, Sheriff’s Deputies, and the
State Highway Patrol to the scene. Both drivers were able to exit their
vehicles on their own power but were later immobilized and taken to MCG
for treatment of possible injuries.
The driver of the Explorer was said to be suffering from a possible
medical condition attributing to her failure to brake to avoid the Ford
Focus.
Both women were transported from the scene by ambulance within minutes.
Neither of the women were considered to be suffering from serious
injuries.
Both vehicles were moved from the roadway and traffic was restored in
about half an hour as the Highway Patrol investigated the collision.
Due to a camera malfunction photos from the scene are not available.
