  Investigators searching for missing $50,000 diamond web posted June 27, 2008 MERRIWETHER – Edgefield County Sheriff’s Investigators are looking into the theft of a diamond ring and a “dinner” ring that occurred recently. Missing rings are nothing new for law enforcement, it happens all the time. However, very rarely is a single ring worth $50,000. The 3.75 karat marquise cut diamond was set in 14 karat gold and went missing from the home within a few hours. There was no forced entry. The second ring, a gold band with four small diamonds, is also missing. Three possible suspects were identified and the case is currently under investigation. The location of the home is not being revealed in this report to protect the victim. We do not want to give the criminal element any ideas of where to strike for burglaries. ©
