Several dogs, other pets found abandoned inside Merriwether home with no food or water web posted June 28, 2007 A search warrant was obtained on Tuesday and deputies entered the home and found the home is “disarray” with “dog feces and trash on the floor” in addition to “thousands of bugs and cock roaches crawling about on everything,” an incident report states. Once inside deputies located and trapped four dogs at the home. A cat, deputies also located, was able to avoid being trapped at the time. As deputies continued to search the home they found a ferret in a cage with no food and water in addition to a bird, also found in a cage with similar circumstances. Electric service had been discontinued at the home and the animals had no escape or fresh air in the recent summer days with temperatures in the high 90's. The animals were collected and taken into custody in an animal control truck then transported to a holding facility where they were fed and given fresh water. The case is currently still under investigation. The whereabouts of the unmarried couple are unknown at this time but police have identified both parties. EdgefieldDaily.com was unable to confirm if warrants have been issued in the case. For
