Neighbor Provides Deputies with Tag Number of Burglar Suspect

web posted July 9, 2014

MERRIWETHER A Merriwether man returned to his Timothy Crossing home to find his gray and red Honda push mower missing from his garage and called to report the theft. Fortunately, his neighbor was observant and was able to provide deputies with not only a description of the suspect, but the tag number and make and model of the car he was driving.

The homeowner was able to provide details on the description of the mower, including the rubber handle on the right side of the mower handle was missing, but was not able to provide model number or serial number at the time of the report.

The neighbor told deputies the suspect, a black male, possibly in his late 30's to early 40's wearing shorts and a button down shirt, walked into the neighbor's garage and took the mower. He then left in a silver Saturn Ion with a Georgia tag. The neighbor provided the tag number to officers, which came back to a woman in Hephzibah, Georgia.

The case is currently under investigation as a burglary and larceny.
