Merriwether man missing

Edgefielddaily.com
web posted July  14, 2005

MERRIWETHER - Marion Key called his wife, Melba Key, Tuesday night around 10:00 pm to say he was, “not feeling well,” and was leaving his job at as a greeter Wal-Mart and was heading home to their Currytown Road home. Mrs. Key said she asked to come pick him up but he declined and outlined the route he would take home; Five Notch Road to Murrah then Mealing Road to Currytown Road.

What should have been a fifteen to twenty minute trip turned into forty minutes and Mrs. Key alerted police. “He isn’t in the best of health,” Mrs. Key said and Mr. Key was due to receive dialysis treatments today. “The (Edgefield County and North Augusta Police) deputies searched all night driving the same route and other possible routes but found nothing,” Mrs. Key said.

Family and friends have also joined the search and have even gone to former residences thinking his medications may have confused him and searched other possible locations they thought he may have gone to. “We still haven’t heard anything,” Mrs. Key said adding the last time she has talked to the Sheriff’s Department was around 4 am. Local hospitals have said Mr. Key has not been admitted or seen by them.

Marion Key was last seen driving his Red Geo Metro with a South Carolina Handicapped license plate bearing the number 49579 out of the parking lot of the North Augusta Wal-Mart according to surveillance camera tapes reviewed. The family has asked anyone with information to contact police and to support the family with prayers, “We really appreciate the prayers,” Mrs. Key said.

If you have seen the car or Mr. Key you are asked to call the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Department at 803-637-5337 or 803-278-1625
