Report of armed robbery, assault filed web posted July 19, 2006 MERRIWETHER – A nurse at the Aiken Regional Hospital notified the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office of a patient in the Emergency room being treated for injuries he received during an alleged robbery that occurred in Edgefield County. A Deputy was dispatched to speak to the victim and gain the details of the robbery. The victim told the deputy that a friend picked him up at his house to go to a party. On the way the friend’s car ran out of gas on Short Cut Road sometime after midnight Monday morning. A call was placed for someone to bring gas, but before the assistance came three men wearing ski masks approached and began hitting the victim about the face with a pistol, the police report states. The victim told police his friend ran from the scene during the attack and returned after the three assailants fled from the location. During the reported robbery the three men are said to have taken $20 and a Fossil watch from the victim. The victim could not offer any description of the three attackers, the report reads, other than they were larger than him and wore black ski masks. The man had a black eye and facial abrasions the incident report indicated. The case has been turned over to investigators for follow-up. The victim did not go to the hospital until 19 hours after the attack and did not contact police about the alleged robbery untl the visit to the hospital. For
