Big Oak Drive home burglarized second time this week, neighbor in
custody
web
posted July 19, 2008
MERRIWETHER – A home
on the 400 block of
Big Oak Drive was reported burglarized for a second time this week on
Thursday, and within hours Sheriff’s Deputies arrested Phillip Gregory
Jones, 37, of nearby Hickory Drive, and charged him with burglary in
the third degree and grand larceny in the previous burglary.
Sheriff’s Investigator Phil Ireland, who is investigating
the crimes, said that warrants for Mr. Jones’ arrest were issued
prior to the second burglary. Evidence from the most recent break in is
still being processed and no charges have been filed against Mr. Jones
in that case.
In the most recent burglary the woman’s daughter was asleep in the home
when the front door was pried open. Though nothing was missing the
woman’s medications had been tampered with, incident reports
stated. The woman’s daughter never awoke during the burglary.
Jones is currently being held at the Edgefield County Detention Center
on a total of $25,000 in bonds.
