Vandals destroy mailboxes Edgefielddaily.com web posted July 21, 2005 MERRIWETHER - Vandals destroyed several mailboxes along Sweetwater and Murrah Road according to the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Department. Sometime during Tuesday night someone went around destroying several mailboxes of residents in the area. “We have four or five reports so far,” Deputy Jimmy Smith told Edgefield Daily.com. “There are more, they just haven’t been reported yet,” he said. Typically random property crimes such as vandalism to mailboxes are difficult to investigate. The victims are generally left to pay for the damage caused and unless the crime is witnessed it is virtually impossible to catch those responsible another deputy said. Deputy Smith said the Sheriff’s Department was following up on the reports. Return to Main Page
