  Merriwether man charged with kidnapping, sexual assault on a minor web posted July 25, 2008  MERRIWETHER –
Edgefield County Sheriff’s
Investigators and Deputies executed a search warrant at the Merriwether
home of Bobby Wallace Hickson, 37, of Acorn Knoll, off Woodlawn Road
Friday evening. Chief Investigator Randy Doran said Mr. Hickson is
being charged with criminal sexual conduct on a minor in the first
degree and one count of kidnapping. Mr. Hickson was not present at the
time of the search but turned himself in to authorities around 10:30 pm
Friday night.He is currently being held at the Edgefield County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing. The arrest came after the Sheriff’s Office became aware of the allegations from the young girl by her parents and began an investigation. Warrants were issued on Thursday. Investigators seized items from the family home but did not release the nature of the evidence they were seeking due to the ongoing investigation. “We got most of what we were looking for,” Inv. Doran said. The alleged crime is said to have taken place in late June when Mr. Hickson is accused of molesting the young girl at his home. According to Inv. Doran, the charge of the sexual assault is on a minor under 16 and older than 12 years of age. Investigator Doran said additional charges could be pending in the case after all the evidence is processed. ©
