Merriwether Woman Reports Attack by Intruder

web posted August 6, 2014

MERRIWETHER A 911 call by a woman reporting she was attacked in her home Tuesday afternoon sent Edgefield County Sheriff's Deputies racing to the scene around 3:30. The woman reportedly had locked herself in the bathroom and did not know if the intruder was still inside the home.

When deputies arrived no one was found inside the home other than the woman. She was checked for minor injuries by EMS, but was not transported.

According to Sheriff's Chief Investigator Randy Doran, the woman reported she was listening to the radio and when she walked from one room to another a black male was there and contact was made between the two. The woman then ran and locked herself in the bathroom until deputies arrived.

Inv. Doran said the scene was being processed for evidence, including recovering fingerprints. A complete description of the intruder was not available due to the investigation being in its initial stages and under active investigation at the time.

Edgefield Daily will have updates as more information is released.
