  Cyclist airlifted after being struck by car web posted August 10, 2007 MERRIWETHER – A cyclist was airlifted to the MCG Trauma Unit after being struck by a vehicle just after 6 am Thursday on Stephens Road. The Merriwether Fire Department, Sheriff’s Deputies, and EMS arrived on the scene a short time later and began treating the injured rider. Due the amount of trauma the man suffered an AirMed helicopter was summoned to the scene to transport the rider. Officials said the rider suffered “a fair amount of body trauma”. The rider was immobilized and transported to a nearby landing zone set up by firefighters. No update was provided on the man’s condition. It is unknown at this time if the driver of the vehicle was cited in the collision. The driver of the car was not injured. For
