Fox Creek Celebrates A Decade Strong

By Nancy Cowart
web posted August 19, 2014

MERRIWETHER –  In the summer of 2004 excited teenagers and anxious parents stood on the walkway of a casino being renovated to create a place for school to take place.  A team of founders hovered close-by to answer questions and to get names and addresses of potential students. By this time a team of teachers had already been hired and most of us were there that day to get pumped for what promised to be a climb uphill. We were part of a ground-breaking event: starting a high school from scratch.

Needless to say, the past ten years at Fox Creek have been a growing process, not just in creating a phenomenal place of education for students in the surrounding area, but also in learning to survive in an arena where, actually, we have not been the predators. Determined and dedicated, however, parents, students, teachers, and community have made sure Fox Creek excelled.

Just like other schools, FCHS has graduated students who have become lawyers, doctors, pharmacists, teachers, engineers, computer programmers, business owners, mechanics, soldiers, fire fighters, performers, and good parents.  We have sent our graduates into the world to be successful and we have sent them with the words, “You can always call when you need help out there.”

On September 25, 2014, everyone is invited to a celebration of Fox Creek’s DECADE STRONG.  On campus from 6:00 PM until 8:30 PM we will be serving food, having a fantastic pep rally for the following night’s homecoming game, crowning the new homecoming king, giving tours of our facility, showing plans for an addition, raffling two super prizes, and capping the evening off with the performance of Lokomotion (a band made up of faculty members Bill Warnken and David Bell along with former students Patrick Hughes and Anthony Plumley).

Former students, parents, community folks, and those who want to know more about Fox Creek High School and what makes this school so special are invited to attend this fantastic event.
For more information, call Fox Creek at 803-613-9435 or keep an eye on the school website: http://www.foxcreekhighschool.org.
