Trenton woman becomes second death after fall from horse this summer web posted August 24, 2007 MERRIWETHER – A Trenton woman has become the second person to die from injuries relating to horseback incidents this year. Hazel Rosier, 37, of Nicholson Road, died Wednesday from injuries she received in an apparent riding accident at Mount Vintage Plantation last Thursday, Deputy Coroner David Burnett said. Mr. Burnett said the results of an autopsy performed on Thursday in Newberry were not available at this time and could not provide a cause of death. The death is under investigation by the Edgefield County Sheriff’s Office. Sheriff’s Chief Investigator Randy Doran could not release details of the case Thursday citing the ongoing investigation. An investigation into any accidental death is routine, authorities said. Mrs. Rosier and her husband are said to have met last Thursday with the owner of a horse they were interested in purchasing. At some point Mrs. Rosier attempted to ride the horse and was thrown, striking her head in the fall. She was taken by her husband to be treated at Aiken Regional Hospital and then transferred to MCG where she was later placed on life support for most of the past week. Mr. Burnett said the life support was removed Wednesday and Mrs. Rosier died a short time later. "The time of death was 2:05 pm," Burnett said. EdgefieldDaily.com will continue to follow the investigation and will have more information as it becomes available. Mr. Burnett said the official results of the autopsy should be received sometime Friday. Jennie Stiner Rodgers, 56, was the first fatality involving a horse earlier this summer when she died Monday, June 18, after being thrown while riding her horse near her home on Long Cane Road in Edgefield. An investigation in that case determined the injuries she suffered were consistent with a riding accident. For
