  Motorcycle crash injures rider web posted September 4, 2008  MERRIWETHER – A
motorcyclist lost control
of his BMW motorcycle on Currytown Road around noon on Wednesday
injuring the rider. A passing motorist saw the man lying in the ditch
and called 911, “he was moaning so I knew he was still alive,” she
said. Merriwether Firefighters and EMS arrived on the scene a short
time later.The man was immobilized and transported to MCG for treatment of his injuries, not thought to be life threatening. Currytown Road was blocked of all traffic while rescuers treated the man on the scene. The motorcycle suffered extensive damage in the crash. According to information on the scene the man was traveling west on Currytown Road when he ran off the right shoulder of the road and lost control. The motorcycle tumbled several times before coming to rest almost 70 yards from where it first left the roadway. The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating the crash. ©
