  Stolen Car from Tennessee Recovered in Merriwether web posted September 5, 2012 MERRIWETHER – Merriwether School Board member Chris Hoffmann called the Edgefield County Sheriff's Office Friday to report a suspicious vehicle parked in a wooded area along Townes Road. Deputies arrived and found the burgundy Pontiac van parked with the driver's window down and the door unlocked. Deputies ran a check on the vehicle, including the VIN number which came back to an owner in Estill Springs, Tennessee. Authorities there were contacted and requested to make contact with the owner. It was later discover the van had been reported stolen and deputies responded back to the location and had the vehicle impounded and towed from the scene around 3 am Tuesday morning.
