 web posted September 18, 2007 MERRIWETHER – A Merriwether man called the Sheriff’s Office to report a break-in to his home on the 300 block of Moore Road over the weekend. The man told police that when he returned home he noticed coins laying about when he entered the locked door and later discovered the theft of several containers of coins. The man advised that at first he did not know the home was broken into since the door was locked, however, after police arrived it became apparent that the back door had been pried open with some sort of a tool than then locked as the person or persons responsible left the scene. According to police reports one container of coins was taken from the kitchen area and six others were taken from a bedroom. The total amount of money taken was estimated to be around $200. The case has been turned over to the Investigative Division for follow up. No suspects were named in the reports. For all
